This is a brief report-out on the results of the recent Board election, as supervised and validated by our independent teller, Irene Peters Harrison, C.P.A., NJ. I have also checked the return envelopes against the GCA voting member roster, and added up the ballots. Several times. I will follow this up, hopefully within the week, with a report-out letter to the membership, which will also include the dues notice. The results, per this validation, are as below (successful candidates listed first): President: Pat Ide: 71 Sue LeMieux: 67 Vice President: Mary Ellen Gorske: 70 Linda Bell: 69 Recording Secretary: Gail Burnham: 71 Rose Mary Conner: 68 Corresponding Secretary: Beth Anne Gordon: 74 Sheryl Bartel: 64 Treasurer: Herman Leider: 71 Susan Crutcher: 68 Member of the Board, 2003: June Matarazzo: 71 Eric Liebes: 68 As you can see, this was a very close election all around, actually split 50%/50%. 139 GCA voting members cast a total of 832 votes. Interestingly, 57 members cast a straight slate for the nominating committee slate, and 57 members cast a straight slate for the candidates by petition. The difference was made by those who voted split slates. When I examined the actual ballots and counted them via computer (which was the only prudent thing to do, given the razon-thin margins), I found only minor discrepancies (i.e., Recording Secretary, PGB 70, RMC 69, and Corresponding Secretary, BAG 73, CB 65) which made no difference to the overall outcome. Congratulations to all the successful candidates, and thanks to everyone who cared enough about GCA to stand for office. To those with whom I don't speak prior to then, may you and your loved ones have a joyous holiday, and may our devotion to our hounds and guardianship of the breed sustain us in the new year. (Including the hounds who just roared skidding in from the ice and snow waving a pine branch and a decapitated Santa.) Respectfully, Rose Mary Conner GCA Recording Secretary
